(1)SC fiber interface

The SC fiber interface was already in use in the age of 100Base-TX Ethernet, so it was called 100Base-FXX F, the acronym of the optical fiber word fiber, but was not widely used because its performance was no better than twisted-pair wires but the cost was higher. Now the industry vigorously promote gigabit network SC fiber interface is re-valued.

There are many types of optical fiber interfaces, SC fiber interfaces are mainly used in LAN switching environments, which are provided on some high-performance gigabit switches and routers. They look very similar to the RJ-45 interface, but the SC interface is more flat. The obvious difference is the inner contact plate, the RJ-45 interface for eight thin copper contacts, and the SC fiber interface for a copper column.

(2)AUI interface

The AUI interface is specifically used to connect coaxial cables. In the early days, the interface was connected to the hub and switch to form a network, which is no longer commonly used.

AUI interface is a "D" type 15 pin interface, which was used in token ring network or bus network. It can be connected to 10Base-T Ethernet network with the aid of external transceiver (AUI-to-RJ-45).

(3)RJ-45 interface

This interface is our most common network device interface , commonly known as " Crystal Head , " and the terminology is the RJ - 45 connector , which is a twisted pair Ethernet interface type . The RJ - 45 plug can only be inserted in the fixed direction , and a plastic spring piece and an RJ - 45 slot jam to prevent falling off .

This interface can be used in 10Base-T Ethernet 100Base-TX Ethernet 100Base-TX Ethernet 1000Base-TX Ethernet, the transmission medium is twisted-pair, but according to the bandwidth of different media also have different requirements, especially 1000 Base-TX Gigabit Ethernet connection, must use at least five kinds of lines. To ensure stability and high speed, you also need to use 6 types of lines.

(4)Console interface

This interface we know that it is used to configure the switch, so it is only the network management switch. And it should be noted, not all the network management switches have, that is because the switch configuration method has many kinds, such as the Telnet command line, the Web mode, the TFTP mode, etc. Although, in theory, the basic configuration of the switch must be The Console (control) port must be passed, but the basic configuration of some brand switches is configured at the time of the factory, and the basic configuration such as the IP address, the basic username is not required, so this type of network management switch does not have to provide the Console interface, and is currently in the majority. Such switches are usually only You need to make some advanced configuration through simple Telnet or Java program Web.

Of course, some switches still provide the console interface, but it is important to note that not all switches are configured with the same console ports, some using the same RJ-45 type console interface as Cisco routers, as shown in the figure.

(5)FDDI interface

FDDI is the highest transmission rate in the current mature LAN technology. It has the characteristic of timing token protocol, supports various topologies, and the transmission media is optical fiber.

Optical fiber distributed data interface (FDDII) is a set of protocols developed by the National Organization for Standardization (ANSI) of the United States to send digital signals over optical cables. FDDI uses double ring tokens. The transmission rate can reach 100 Mbps.CCDI is a variant of FDDI. It uses twin-stranded copper cable as the transmission medium, and the data transmission rate is usually 100Mbps.FDDI-2 is the extended protocol of FDDI, which supports voice, video and data transmission. It is another variant of FDDI, called FDDI full-duplex technology. It uses the same network structure as FDDI. But the transmission rate can reach 200 Mbps. Because the use of optical fiber as a transmission medium has many advantages, such as large capacity, long transmission distance, strong anti-interference ability and so on, it is often used in the metropolitan area network, the backbone network of campus environment, and the distributed environment of multi-building network. So FDDI interface is more common in network backbone switch, now with the popularity of gigabit, some high-end gigabit switch also began to use this interface.
